MY STANCE ON KEY ISSUES

PRO-LIFE
I am Pro Life and feel life should be treated with complete care from fetus to death. I strongly support adoption as a viable alternative if a pregnancy is unwanted or the mother feels incapable of caring for the child. I believe there are more than enough couples seeking to adopt, and actively promote adoption as an asset to our society. As a Representative, I would support any measures that facilitate increasing adoption rates and lowering abortion rates in Pennsylvania.

THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS
A check of history makes it clear that our forefathers meant for the second amendment to guarantee the right of an individual to bear arms. From the original drafter of the Bill of Rights, James Madison, through Thomas Jefferson, and countless others, it is obvious that the right to bear arms was meant to be an individual’s right and not just applicable to the arming of a militia. I support the NRA and the premise that guns don’t kill people; people kill people. As such, I feel that the ownership of firearms places a certain onus of responsibility on the individual, and support firearms safety education and training requirements as part of ownership.

PENNSYLVANIA LIQUOR LAW
I take a firm position that all wines, liquors and beers should only be sold in bars, 6-pack shops, distributors, and state owned stores. I don’t believe this product should be sold in convenience stores or super markets. This would create high risk situations of the product getting into the wrong hands. This would make it very easy for a younger cashier, at a store, to slide the product into the hands of an under aged friend, and not ask for proper ID. Tavern/6-pack owners and state store employees are more trained to oversee this and control it. This would also create high liability insurance issues which small businesses could not afford or compete with larger chains. The PLCB would also be forced to add additional personnel to cover the added locations, which would need to be monitored and inspected.

ZERO TOLERANCE POLICE LIABILITY
If a police officer is killed in the line of duty by a weapon (gun/knife), then life without parole should be a mandatory sentence. We must back our police officers with the respect they deserve, as they protect our lives everyday when they put theirs in harms way.
